Another testament to game's continued leaning towards batsmen. But, I'm really curious to see what players can do with this pint sized willow.

A friend of mine took the plunge and bought one. What I said above I take back, quite brilliant. Effortless sixes, fours.

Am I the only one who doesn't see how this is revolutionary, it's essentially a Jnr bat with a long handle.

I can see the quicker swing speed at the bottom being a plus point, however you can achieve this with a regular bat by leaving the cleft thicker there. With this Mongoose bat you also lose the counterbalance that the shoulders and handle provides on a regular bat, therefore it will pick up heavier possibly negating this swing speed.

Also reading through the PDF's on the Mongoose site there's some vital information missing, were both bats knocked in for example. Also the Mongoose bat is heavier than the Woodworm it was tested against, a heavier bat means you'll have a larger centre of restitution so the Mongoose is bound to perform better.

Cameron,

The bat is still the same length as a traditional short handle cricket bat, just with more handle and less blade, so yorkers won't be a problem!
